Welcome to The Pillbox
To make great work, you need a great workspace — the combination of A-Class audio equipment, a comfortable control room, and professional staff that work with artists and content producers at any level. The Pillbox is a recording studio and audio post-production space where creativity is fostered and studio time costs aren’t prohibitive.
The Pillbox is the studio of producer/engineer Josh Pillbox. He started his first commercial recording studio in his college dorm in 2005 after interning with Tony Maserati at Chung King Studios. He is now a staff engineer at BMG, the bassist of Cilver, and runs The Pillbox which has grown over 13 years from a bedroom recording operation in St. Louis to a Brooklyn gem with a full staff of incredible audio engineers.
The Studio
The Pillbox is a premium recording facility with an acoustically treated control room, vocal booth, comfortable lounge, and small kitchen. The studio is outfitted with Class-A preamps and microphones and an array of digital and analog synthesizers.
Control Room
The control room at The Pillbox wields the top-of-the-line Avid S3 ProTools Control Surface and ProTools Dock, dual Avalon 737 preamps, Event ASP8 studio monitors, pristine UAD convertors, the Native Instruments Komplete Konstrol S49 MK2 keyboard, and a plethora of synthesizers.
Vocal Booth
Our acoustically treated vocal booth hosts a Neumann TLM-103 large-diaphragm condenser microphone and includes a flatscreen monitor which makes it perfect for ADR sessions and makes forgetting your lyrics a thing of the past.
Lounge
Working at The Pillbox is as productive as it is comfortable. Our lounge area features an over-sized couch, coffee table, 100mbps Wi-Fi, and a HUGE video game collection that ranges from Nintendo NES to PS4.
Our Projects
The Pillbox and its engineers have worked with grammy nominated artists as well as independent up-and-comers. We've mixed films and documentaries, produced ADR for television networks, recorded podcasts for some of the biggest podcast producers, and recorded audiobooks for Audible.com.
